The FUN of Giving
I got some awesome news this morning!
As you probably know, I’ve been participating in a charity match with Consumerism Commentary. The matching went like this: Consumerism Commentary from $1-$5000, and MoneyCrush from $5000-$6000.
Well, as of last night, “readers have confirmed donations totaling $6,533”.
You guys are great!
That means I get to match the full $1000 to the Nothing But Nets campaign from the United Nations, Consumerism Commentary gets to match $5000 to Médecins Sans Frontières (which is known as Doctors Without Borders in the U.S.), and more importantly…
A bunch of charities have received donations from readers of both blogs!
I can’t tell you how excited I am about this. During the 31 Days to Better Bank Balance series, one of the steps I wrote about was giving. I pointed out that when you give in a heartfelt manner, you feel better about yourself, in addition to helping others.
Giving has actually been one of the things I’ve been wanting to improve on. I’ve never given an amount greater than $100 to a single organization at one time before, and so something I didn’t expect was just how fun it is.
So, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
That’s fabulous. Great job and congratulations! I hope it makes a big difference for many people this season.
I hope so too :)
That is great news! Thanks again!
Great job! I’m glad to hear the goal amounts were reached!
