Getting Out of Debt For Good
We’re now officially debt free, and it feels great. Altogether, we’ve paid off over $147,000 in debt. (Consisting of our mortgage, credit cards, a student loan, a car loan, and a home improvement loan.)
We were sick of the stress that comes with owing money, and of never being able to get ahead, so we decided to get it gone — one debt at a time.

Congratulations!
Thanks!
Congratulations!! That was a lot of debt that you paid off, I commend you for doing so. It must feel great to be debt free!
It feels AWESOME! :)
Congrats!
Thanks Jenna!
Nicely done! What will you do with the extra cash flow that no longer goes to service debt?
Thanks for mentioning in your story that you were able to fund vacations, college tuition, and other incidental expenses while paying down debt. So often people assume decreasing debt and living a full life are mutually exclusive.
We’re already contributing a lot to retirement, so our next big goals are to save up for a Lotus Elise (for my husband) and a trip to Antarctica (for me).
It’s certainly possible to both live a life and pay down debt, but I will say that we could have done it a lot FASTER if we’d put vacations on hold. (And we finally did, after this past January, which provided some extra motivation to me to get it done because I love to travel.)
Congratulations! I can’t wait until I can say the same. But I have some work to do and need to get serious.
We’re living proof that getting serious makes a huge difference :)
Wow, I am so happy for you, now I can do this also. What a good example. Sewer has collapsed here and I am going on my 4th cataract suregery but still plugging along.
You can definitely do it! Hope the surgery goes well.
Awesome! What a great accomplishment. Glad to hear you stuck with it and made your plan work.
Thanks :)
BOOYAH!!!! You’re an absolute champion!
Woohoo!
Congratulations Jackie! Way to go!
Thanks, it feels awesome!
Wow, I am so proud of you this means I can do it also!
You definitely can!
