Don’t Go It Alone

While the people who know me might say I’m just tiniest bit stubborn and independent-minded (*waits for them to snort when they read this*) I’m still a big believer in getting help when I start something new, and in learning about other people’s perspectives.

After all, there are plenty of people out there with a lot more experience with things than I have. When I’m working at achieving a financial goal or learning about something related to personal finance, I look around for additional input and support.

I like to read up on the subject — checking out multiple books and reviewing articles online — and to at least attempt to check the validity of the sources. (Just because something’s written down doesn’t automatically make it true.)

I also like to talk to people who have undertaken similar things, to see what their results were and what kind of pitfalls they encountered. One thing that I especially like is to become part of a community of like-minded people.

It’s just so much easier to get to where you want to be if you aren’t trying to go it alone.
