I tihnk the main thing behind the fear of success is fear itself. Fear of change, fear of risk, fear of the unknown.

Conqueirng fear in our lives will open up a lot of doors.

Interesting, I don't think I've ever even thought of being successful as being related to my job, so I guess I'm not one of those people. I also don't really equate it with necessarily making a lot of money. Hm, food for thought.

It all depends on how you define success. I will elaborate a bit on Budgeting's comment here. To a lot of people, being successful simply means being successful AT THEIR JOB. Unfortunately, making a lot of money at your occupation (whichever it is) doesn't necessarily make you successful. To a lot of people, the price to pay for making a lot of money is not worth it. That doesn't mean they don't want to be successful, on the contrary. They just want to also have the other aspects of their lives well in-balance.

That being said, I do agree that a lot of the "fear of success" has to do with the fact that you will have haters. Look at all the successful people, they all had to learn how to grow a thick skin...

Well I suppose if you didn't like success or it wasn't all it's cracked up to be you could always stop...

(And I like your comment about success being 99% productivity.)

Oh, Jackie! Once you succeed, you must continue to do so. Really, success is 99% productivity. Ya gotta keep pushing at it, gotta keep getting the results, blah blah blah. Mediocrity doesn't require much.

Did I mention that I'm lazy? But! I am working on it. I'm taking your advice from today's post--each day we change behavior puts us one step closer to permanent change.
